High schools dialogue with students about exam pressure

On September 22, the leaders of Le Loi High School for the Gifted (Ha Dong, Hanoi) had a dialogue with students and answered questions about school life.

This is the third time the school's leaders have conducted a dialogue, answering all questions of nearly 1,000 students about questions related to school life, relieving exam pressure, providing career counseling and some hopes and aspirations when teachers and students will soon be transferred to a newly built school.

Dr. Le Xuan Trung - Vice Principal in charge of the school was the one who directly discussed and answered students' questions.

Tran Tra My - a student of class 11A4 stated that in the high school graduation exam, to be admitted to university, a student may have to compete with 5-10 other students if he wants to pass the exam, the pressure of studying is getting higher. So what is the way for teachers to reduce the pressure of learning for students?

Responding to students' questions, Dr. Le Xuan Trung expressed his sharing and said that students are currently under a lot of pressure in exams, especially each senior exam season, the ability assessment test to choose from their favorite universities. To reduce pressure on students, according to Mr. Trung, the first thing is to choose the major and school that suits their abilities, not depending on the wishes of parents or relatives. At the same time, students need to have appropriate learning methods in the subjects and majors they have chosen.

In addition to trying to study to conquer their dreams, students also need to allocate time between studying, resting, and entertainment in the most reasonable way. In particular, teachers always accompany children to learn while playing, learning while playing.

"That requires the efforts of myself, teachers, and family to support" - Dr. Le Xuan Trung said.

In response to the student's frank question, Dr. Le Xuan Trung said that there are 3 things that need to be done. First, teachers must continuously change the way of guiding learning and educational methods to most attract students. Second, students need to change their awareness, thinking as well as learning and training methods. Third, teachers - students have a friendly, civilized, and intellectual relationship so that they are passionate about practicing and exploring in a safe and happy environment every time they go to school.

Also at the program, the issue of the learning environment was raised by student representatives from class 12A5: What measures will the school take to make students feel happy, safe and respected when going to school?

The leaders of Le Loi High School for the Gifted have proposed a group of measures to educate students such as: Comprehensive education, creating many playgrounds for students to improve themselves. The school continuously calls for and closely directs teachers to constantly innovate teaching and learning, how to make children interested in each lesson; always listen to the voices, aspirations and wishes of students.

Despite making mistakes and shortcomings, according to Mr. Le Xuan Trung, teachers must have an approach, share, sympathize and be Forgiving to help them correct themselves.

"We must do something to make children miss the opportunity to go to school and make each day of school a happy day for them to want to go to school" - Mr. Trung said.
