According to parents' feedback, To Hien Thanh High School (Ha Dong, Hanoi) recently conducted 10th grade enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. The number of admitted students has been divided into classes and completed admission procedures according to the process.
However, in September 2024, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training suddenly announced that To Hien Thanh High School was not granted a quota by the Department, due to the reason that it did not meet the legal conditions for its operating location.
The announcement from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training made more than 174 parents with children studying in grade 10 here very worried, not knowing what the "fate" of their children would be, because this meant their children were studying "illegally" and did not have a code on the system of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Regarding this incident, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet - Principal of To Hien Thanh High School admitted that the school was wrong because it recruited students without being granted quotas by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Regarding the solution, the school has also held many meetings with parents to discuss and agree on a solution. The school still arranges teachers to teach students according to the normal curriculum to ensure knowledge. At the same time, a report has been sent to the Department of Education and Training to request a solution to the current difficulties.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training informed that To Hien Thanh High School has reported this incident to the Department.
Mr. Tuan said that, in the immediate future, the unit is coordinating with other units to calculate solutions to ensure the rights of students.
"In this case, the student is not at fault. The Department will decide how to handle the school after everything is settled," Mr. Tuan affirmed.
It is known that the story of schools deliberately enrolling students despite not being assigned quotas has happened in the non-public school system of Hanoi. The incident at To Hien Thanh High School is not unique.
In the 2023-2024 school year, another private school in Hai Ba Trung district also illegally recruited 10th grade students, but parents were completely unaware. This could lead to the risk of students not graduating from high school because they do not have a code in the industry database.
Afterwards, the school representative apologized and "called for help" from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to compensate for enrollment quotas to ensure the rights of students.
At this time, what parents are concerned about is how to resolve the issue satisfactorily, because if they transfer schools, it also involves differences in tuition fees, facilities, and whether the student's chosen subject combinations match those of To Hien Thanh High School or not...
