On March 14, at Can Tho University, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc chaired the Conference on the implementation of Science and Technology activities in 2025.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized the importance of scientific and technological activities in training high-quality human resources, serving the development of the country. The Deputy Minister requested that universities need to promote international publications in prestigious scientific journals, while creating clear research results, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese science in the international arena.

At the conference, Dr. Vu Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information (Ministry of Education and Training) - reported a summary of scientific and technological activities in 2024 and orientations for 2025.
The report shows that the scientific and technological activities of units under the Ministry of Education and Training have had positive changes. In 2024, lecturers published 9,249 articles in prestigious domestic scientific journals. The number of international scientific publications has also increased significantly, with 2,258 articles in journals in the Web of Science (WoS) category and 3,202 articles in journals in the Scopus database.

By the end of 2024, most of the magazines belonging to the higher education institutions under the Ministry will meet the regulations on quality, management and scientific criteria of a scientific journal. Notable are the 2 magazines indexed in Scopus, 15 magazines in the Southeast Asia - ACI Attraction Center database, 8 magazines that have completed ACI's criteria, 10 scientific magazines that meet the regulations on quality, management and scientific criteria, all with scores from 0.5 to 1 point calculated by the State Council of Professors.
The conference spent time for delegates to discuss, exchange experiences and discuss solutions to improve scientific and technological activities. Delegates emphasized the importance of cooperation between universities, the business sector and international cooperation to attract resources, improve research capacity and the quality of human resource training.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc affirmed that the 2025 Conference on deploying science and technology activities is a great opportunity for higher education institutions to strive to innovate, create science and technology, and improve the quality of higher education.
The Deputy Minister requested higher education institutions to review strategic orientations, develop science and technology, innovation, digital transformation in education, and at the same time strengthen domestic and foreign training cooperation, transfer and application of advanced science and technology.
In particular, the Deputy Minister noted that schools need to prioritize training human resources to serve the 4.0 economy, focusing on industries such as transportation, electricity, semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Strengthen internal inspection and supervision in the use of resources and facilities, use them reasonably and effectively, avoid waste.
