Education is a strategic cooperation field between the two countries

Speaking at the conference, Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc affirmed that over the past decades, the Russian Federation and formerly the Soviet Union have supported Vietnam in training tens of thousands of scientific, technical cadres, experts and high-level managers. Cooperation between Vietnamese and Russian universities in the fields of training, scientific research, and technology transfer in recent years has also developed strongly.

The cooperation agreement in the field of higher education between the Government of Vietnam and the Russian Federation in 2024, along with the fact that the Russian Government annually grants Vietnam 1,000 scholarships for training levels, is clear evidence of commitments, affirming the determination to cooperate effectively and closely in the field of education, making an important contribution to the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

In exchanges and contacts between senior leaders of the two countries, the leaders have repeatedly affirmed the need to further promote cooperation in education and training, especially in areas where Russia has strengths and Vietnam has needs, such as national defense - security, culture - academic arts, sports, basic sciences, nuclear energy...

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will create all favorable conditions and support for educational cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation to continue to develop strongly, substantively, and more effectively in the coming time.

Expanding university cooperation in depth

Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that the cooperative relationship in education and training between Vietnam and the Russian Federation is inherited from the good traditional friendship foundation between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, which has been painstakingly nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries over many decades.

The Minister shared that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development with the aspiration to become a high-income developed country by 2045. To realize that goal, developing high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of science, technology and innovation, is identified as a strategic breakthrough.

In particular, major trends such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, semiconductor technology, green economy and sustainable development are profoundly changing the global socio-economic structure. In that context, cooperation between countries, especially between education systems, has become an inevitable requirement.

The Russian Federation has affirmed its role as a leading science, technology and education center in the world. The similarity in development needs and complementarity in strengths between the two education systems opens up a huge space for cooperation for the two sides to elevate higher education cooperation to a new stage of development - a stage of substantive, in-depth, effective cooperation and joint value creation.

The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam is committed to continuing to improve institutions, creating a favorable environment to promote international cooperation in higher education, science, technology and innovation. The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam will also closely coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to support higher education institutions of the two sides to effectively implement cooperation agreements" - Minister Hoang Minh Son affirmed.
