Quang Tri - Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee decided to remove two leaders of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities from their positions after violating management and causing poisoning.

On December 19, a source from Lao Dong Newspaper said that the People's Committee of Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province, issued a decision to take disciplinary action against Mr. Do Van My - Principal and Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue - Vice Principal of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

According to the disciplinary decision, Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee determined that the two school leaders had violated management and operation, leading to prolonged errors, affecting the school's operations and the reputation of the local education sector. On that basis, the People's Committee of the commune agreed to apply disciplinary measures of dismissal.

To ensure uninterrupted teaching and learning activities, Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee assigned Mr. Tran Duy Binh - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee to directly take charge of and manage the work of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities while waiting for the principal's personnel to be completed according to regulations.

Previously, according to the conclusion of the authorities, at 4:30 p.m. on September 25, the boarding kitchen of the school prepared braised bird's nest to serve dinner for 75 students. The next day, 40 students showed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and had to be admitted to Le Thuy Regional General Hospital for treatment.

The results of the testing of food samples conducted by the Pasteur Nha Trang Institute determined that the braised poultry dish was infected with Bacillus cereus bacteria, which produced NHE and HBL toxins - the agents of food poisoning for 40 students.

For the above violations, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has decided to fine Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities a total amount.

Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of September 26, 40 students of the school had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment after meals due to suspected food poisoning. During the inspection and verification of the incident, Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue was suspended from work twice to serve the investigation and clarify related responsibilities. The People's Committee of Quang Tri province also fined the school a total of 196.5 million VND and suspended all food processing activities in the school's kitchen for a period of 5 months.
