Suspicion of expired meat entering schools, Ho Chi Minh City requests to stop using Sago Food products

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requests schools to stop semi-boarding meals using products of Sago Food Company - a unit that was reflected for using expired meat in dish preparation.

The information was given by Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT TPHCM) on the afternoon of January 29.

According to Mr. Minh, the Department will have a document requesting schools to stop semi-boarding meals using products of An Phuoc Thang SG Trading Co., Ltd. (Sago Food) - a unit that was reflected for using expired meat to process meals.

The Department requests schools to closely coordinate with local authorities to comprehensively assess the factors. On that basis, a plan will be developed to organize semi-boarding meals for students most effectively, ensuring nutrition and food safety and hygiene.

For all other schools (not using Sago Food products), it is necessary to strengthen supervision of each stage in the process of organizing semi-boarding meals.

Previously, on January 28, An Phuoc Thang SG Trading Co., Ltd. (Sago Food) in Hiep Phuoc commune (formerly Nha Be district area) - a unit providing meals and food for many schools in Ho Chi Minh City, was reflected on using expired meat in processing. This information has caused much concern in public opinion.

After this information, many schools using Sago Food company meals have announced a temporary suspension of cooperation, awaiting conclusions from functional agencies, and at the same time stopped organizing semi-boarding meals at schools.
