Before the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Capital is expected to put into operation 4 key traffic projects to reduce congestion, including: Ring Road 2.5 Dam Hong - National Highway 1 section; Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection underpass; project to renovate and expand National Highway 1 and the Southern Hanoi road axis.
The progress of the projects has just been agreed upon by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board with the construction units, striving to complete before the 2026 Lunar New Year.
Regarding the Ring Road 2.5 project, Dam Hong - National Highway 1 section, representatives of the Project Management Board said that the basic items have been completed. Currently, contractors are focusing on constructing the roadbed and completing the surface of bridge L3 over the Lu River.
The underpass item at the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection (an independent component project of Ring Road 2.5) is expected to be opened to traffic before February 10.
Meanwhile, the project to renovate and expand National Highway 1, Van Dien - Ngoc Hoi section, with a length of about 3.8 km, has been technically opened to traffic and is ready to be handed over to the Department of Construction to organize traffic, serving the travel needs of people.
For the Southern Hanoi road project, this Lunar New Year, traffic will continue to be opened to about 7 km at the end of the route, thereby completing the entire 41 km long route, with a scale of 6 lanes. The route connects from Highway 70 (old Ha Dong district) to Ninh Binh province (old Ha Nam province), contributing to reducing the load on the southern gateway traffic axes of the Capital.
