On the morning of May 20, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province said that the traffic ban was applied on National Highway 28 from Km43+500 to Km54+000 through Gia Bac Pass, starting from 5 am on the same day.

According to functional agencies, the road ban will be extended until there is a new notice to serve the construction to overcome landslide points on the route.

During the travel ban period, vehicles from the central area of Lam Dong can move along alternative routes including National Highway 28B, National Highway 55 or B'Sa - Da P'Loa road (DT. 717) to go to the eastern area of the province.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on the morning of May 19, Son Dien Commune People's Committee advised people to limit traffic through Gia Bac Pass due to the high risk of landslides.
At Km51+900 National Highway 28, soil and rocks from the positive slope spilled onto the road surface, causing many traffic difficulties.
The road surface is slippery and muddy, while the negative taluy side is a deep abyss without protective barriers, so it poses a potential risk of traffic unsafety.
On May 19, heavy rain continued to appear in many areas of Son Dien commune, increasing the risk of landslides on the Gia Bac pass.
Previously, in January 2026, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued an order to build an emergency project to overcome landslides on the Km43+500 - Km60+000 section on National Highway 28 passing through the province.
