January 1, 2026 is an important milestone in the toll collection roadmap for expressways. In which, there is the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway.
Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway belongs to the North-South Expressway Project in the East phase 2017-2020 invested with state budget capital.
Representatives of the Thang Long Project Management Board - the project investor - affirmed that the toll collection time on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway is still maintained from January 1, 2026.

In recent days, the working delegation of the Ministry of Construction has directly inspected the field to assess the readiness of the non-stop toll collection system and related technical infrastructure.
The toll collection time has been finalized. Up to now, there has been no notice of adjustment or postponement of time. Technical items are being reviewed and completed according to requirements," a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board informed.
According to records, 51 traffic surveillance camera positions have been installed on the entire Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, belonging to the intelligent transportation system (ITS).
Cameras are deployed along the route and at intersections to control vehicle flow, monitor traffic safety and serve violation handling.
At important intersections such as National Highway 56, National Highway 1 (section of Xuan Loc commune), DT720, National Highway 55 and Ba Bau intersection, automatic weighing stations and non-stop toll collection (ETC) systems have been installed synchronously.
Vehicles when entering the expressway will be checked for load right from the input, and data is transmitted directly to the monitoring center.
Vehicles violating weight limits after passing through the automatic weighing station will be displayed with information on the VMS electronic warning sign, requesting to exit the expressway. At the same time, violation data will be stored to serve cold fines, contributing to limiting the situation of overloaded vehicles causing infrastructure damage.

However, in the process of completing the toll collection system, the Thang Long Project Management Board also encountered some difficulties. Specifically, after construction was completed, there was a situation of theft of equipment, especially copper wires and cables, and some items belonging to the lighting and smart traffic system serving toll collection.
Faced with this situation, Thang Long Project Management Board has sent documents to the People's Committees and Police of Lam Dong and Dong Nai provinces requesting coordination in protecting assets, investigating and preventing theft, and at the same time organizing connections and restoring affected items to ensure operation progress.
Regarding the toll rate, according to the expected plan, group 1 vehicles will have to pay about 1,300 VND/km when traveling on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway.
This fee is determined based on the road being invested with a complete scale, with continuous emergency stops, fully meeting technical criteria according to current regulations.

Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway is 99km long. In which, the section through Dong Nai is 51.5km long, the section through Binh Thuan (now Lam Dong province) is 47.5km long.
The road officially opened to traffic on April 29, 2023 and has 7 intersections, including 4 intersections in Dong Nai and 3 intersections in Lam Dong, creating favorable conditions for vehicles to enter and exit the expressway.
The implementation of toll collection from the beginning of 2026 is expected to contribute to completing the modern highway management and operation model; while ensuring the route operates safely, stably and sustainably in the long term.
