Regarding the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway expansion project (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2), on the afternoon of October 16, Mr. Do Diep Gia Hop, Deputy Head of the Traffic Construction Maintenance and Exploitation Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that the unit is urgently implementing the work of selecting construction contractors, consulting on supervision and construction insurance.

It is expected that all contractor selection work will be completed in October 2025.
In particular, from October 25 to 27, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department will submit to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction for approval a plan for traffic diversion by road and waterway for construction.

The project is expected to start construction at the end of October 2025.
After starting construction, the project will be completed and put into use in December 2026. The completion of this project will contribute to reducing traffic pressure at the eastern gateway of the city.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is 55 km long, including 4 lanes, and has been put into operation since 2016 with a total investment of more than 20,600 billion VND.
However, after nearly a decade of use, the traffic volume on this route has increased by an average of 10.45%/year, causing the section from An Phu intersection to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection to exceed 25% of its capacity, causing serious congestion.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, to solve this situation, the expressway expansion project is divided into two sections.
Section 1 (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2, 3.2 km long) implemented by Ho Chi Minh City, was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in July 2024.
This expressway will be expanded from 4 to 8 lanes, while expanding Muong Kenh bridge and Do Xuan Hop overpass. With a total capital of nearly 1,000 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
