On September 15, Mr. Dinh Van Phuc - Commander of the Mimosa bridge project under Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Construction) - said that the Mimosa overpass at Km227+150 is part of the project to renovate and upgrade the section through Mimosa Pass and some works on National Highway 20, Lam Dong province.
Mimosa bridge is 140m long, including 4 spans, 2 abutments and 3 pillars, Y33 beam structure, 9m wide. The project is located about 150m from Xuan Huong bridge, expected to improve the exploitation capacity of the route and limit the risk of traffic congestion when landslides occur.
According to Mr. Phuc, the project is expected to be constructed in 4 months. On June 12, the construction unit built the first bridge abutment.
However, due to site clearance issues, on September 8, Project Management Board 85 was handed over the site to continue implementing the items.
In parallel with the construction of the bridge, Project Management Board 85 is renovating the section at Km229+700.
Here, the construction unit built a 40m long retaining wall, drilled 20 piles with a diameter of 1m, each pile 10m long to widen the curved road section and increase erosion resistance.
The construction unit is focusing manpower and machinery to speed up progress, striving to put Mimosa bridge on Mimosa Pass - the gateway to Da Lat - into operation before the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported: In November 2025, storms caused serious landslides at Km226+500 on Mimosa Pass.
About 100m of road surface was eroded to 30m deep, soil and rocks were swept down the negative slope, causing traffic through the area to be completely cut off.
After the incident, the Ministry of Construction assigned Project Management Board 85 to coordinate with Lam Dong province to urgently deploy the construction of Xuan Huong overpass over the landslide area.
Xuan Huong overpass is 133m long, of which the bridge section is 108m long, 9m wide, with a total investment of more than 33 billion VND. The project was constructed urgently and put into use before the April 30, 2026 holiday.
The continued construction of Mimosa bridge and reinforcement of key sections are expected to increase safety and improve the operational capacity of National Highway 20 - an important traffic route connecting Da Lat with Ho Chi Minh City and Southeast provinces, serving the transportation of passengers, goods, agricultural products and construction materials.
