In the East of Lam Dong province, Son My commune - the border area of Ho Chi Minh City - is implementing 2 key industrial park (IP) projects including Son My 1 IP and Son My 2 IP.
These are considered industrial infrastructure projects that play an important role in attracting investment and creating momentum for economic development in the eastern region of the province.
Son My 1 IP has a total registered investment capital of about 2,300 billion VND, a scale of 1,070ha, started in August 2022. In this IP, there are also 3 large projects that have been approved for investment policy including Son My I BOT gas power plant, Son My II and Son My LNG port warehouse, with a total area of 156.123ha, registered investment capital of about 5.4 billion USD.

On January 19, the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Lam Dong province said that so far the site clearance of Son My 1 Industrial Park has only reached nearly 105/1,070ha.
In which, compensation and site clearance of 86.79ha of 22 households and individuals and the land managed by the Commune People's Committee are completed. The remaining area is continuing to accelerate site clearance at 288.78ha.
Similarly, Son My 2 IP has a total registered investment capital of 1,717 billion VND, scale of 468.35ha, with land acquisition area of 324 households and individuals (there are still 16 plots whose land users have not been identified) and 3 organizations.
To date, the project has only issued a land recovery notice for 166ha, reaching 38.44%; 66 households have been inventoried with an area of 109ha; transferred to Son My Commune People's Committee to coordinate in considering the legal status of 14 households, with an area of 27.24ha.
According to assessments by functional agencies, the progress of land acquisition, compensation, and site clearance at both projects is still slow compared to requirements. In Son My 1 Industrial Park alone, many economic organizations do not agree with the compensation plan, leading to prolonged lawsuits in court.
In the process of counting and collecting land dossiers, functional agencies also discovered many cases of inaccurate ownership regulations, and inappropriate land plot boundaries, forcing them to re-measure, prolonging the implementation time.
In addition, the change in land policies and laws through many stages has caused many previously prepared dossiers to be reviewed, adjusted, and re-implemented according to new regulations, continuing to create pressure on the overall progress of the project.

Faced with this situation, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested relevant departments, branches and localities to further accelerate the progress of implementing the two Son My 1 and Son My 2 Industrial Park projects, in the spirit of clear work, clear time, and clear units responsible.
Existing problems and obstacles need to be proactively identified, with specific plans to complete each stage, from inventory, considering legality to approving compensation and site clearance plans.
The focus in the coming time is to continue to organize mobilization and persuasion of households that have been notified to pay compensation and support money, in order to create consensus in implementing compensation, support, resettlement plans and handing over land to the State on schedule.
Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial People's Court to soon consider and resolve cases initiated by organizations related to Son My 1 Industrial Park.
