More than 3 weeks since the road connecting Nguyen Van Cu Street to the end of Ngoc Thuy resettlement area was officially opened to traffic, almost every afternoon Mr. Nguyen Minh Tai (34 years old, Ngoc Thuy ward, Long Bien district) takes his daughter here to walk for exercise.
The shade of the green trees and the fresh, pleasant air made his spirit more excited.
"The sidewalks on both sides of the road are spacious, airy and clean, becoming a place for people around the area to walk and exercise," said Mr. Tai, adding that he was very happy when the project reached its completion after many years of construction.
Now, Mr. Tai can take his wife and children to Aeon Mall Long Bien on the weekend on the new route, connecting to Co Linh Street, which is faster, instead of having to go on the narrow Ngoc Thuy embankment, which is often congested like before.
"Especially, there is an overpass on Nguyen Van Cu Street, which helps connect the new route with Hong Tien Street very conveniently, helping people shorten the travel distance" - Mr. Tai said.
Many locals are also very excited, saying that this is the most beautiful road in Long Bien district at the moment.
"Business and trading of people along the route have had many positive changes since the road opened to traffic" - Mr. Le Van Son (Ngoc Lam, Long Bien) said.
The road project connecting Nguyen Van Cu Street to the end of Ngoc Thuy resettlement area is about 1.52km long, starting at the intersection of Nguyen Van Cu Street and ending at the Ngoc Thuy dike, with a total investment of about 1,200 billion VND.
The project also builds a 211m long, 7m wide overpass along Co Linh Street (crossing Nguyen Van Cu Street) with 2 mixed lanes; a railway bridge on the Hanoi - Lang Son route.
The project started construction in 2018 and was expected to be completed after 2 years. However, due to difficulties in site clearance and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the project was delayed.
By October 5, 2024, the project will be officially inaugurated and technically opened to traffic after many years of anticipation by Long Bien district residents.
Chairman of Long Bien District People's Committee Nguyen Manh Ha said that after completion and put into operation, the route will contribute to completing the traffic network of Long Bien district in accordance with the city's planning.
In the inter-regional road system, acting as the central belt of Long Bien district, the route connecting Nguyen Van Cu street to the end of Ngoc Thuy ward resettlement area is the last section of the system, along with technical infrastructure connection projects within and outside the budget to help connect Dong Tru, Chuong Duong, Vinh Tuy, Thanh Tri bridges with Hanoi - Hai Phong highway.
According to the leader of Long Bien District People's Committee, the completion of the project will create favorable conditions for socio-economic development, exploiting land plots and adjacent roads on both sides of the road to generate revenue for the budget and change the face of the city. Thereby contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the locality in particular and Hanoi in general.
