Hanoi - After 3 years of implementation, electric buses have transported nearly 100 million passengers in the capital.

According to information from the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center, from December 2021, when Hanoi's first electric bus route (also the first electric bus route in the country) was put into operation by VinBus Ecological Transport Services Co., Ltd. on the Ocean Park - My Dinh urban area route with code E03. To date, Vinbus has operated a total of 10 electric bus routes in the capital.

According to Mr. Pham Dinh Tien, Head of Operation Planning Department (Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center), after 3 years of monitoring and evaluation, the electric bus routes operate effectively in all aspects. During peak hours, the capacity factor exceeds 100%.

The service quality of electric buses is more complete than that of regular buses. Of which, 80% - 85% of passengers traveling by regular monthly tickets of VinBus are civil servants, public employees, and office workers - a group that previously rarely traveled by bus, usually at a rate of only 25% - 30%.

“According to statistics, after 3 years, Hanoi's electric buses have transported nearly 100 million passengers, reducing CO2 emissions by 41,000 tons, equivalent to planting more than 1.9 million trees,” said a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center.
