From September 15th, trucks from 2 tons or more and passenger cars from 16 seats or more, except for buses, are prohibited from crossing Thang Long bridge from 5am to 12pm to serve the construction of the vehicle weight control weighing station.
Hanoi Department of Construction has just announced a plan to adjust traffic organization to serve the construction of vehicle weight control equipment system in the northern area of Thang Long bridge, the section belonging to Vinh Thanh commune.
The traffic adjustment plan will be implemented from September 15 to November 10, 2020.
Accordingly, from 5 am to 12 pm daily, trucks with a total weight of 2 tons or more and passenger cars of 16 seats or more, except for buses, are not allowed to travel through Thang Long bridge.
Vehicles subject to restrictions are required to choose alternative routes.
For trucks from 2 tons and passenger cars from 16 seats or more traveling from the northern provinces through Thang Long bridge to the southern area of the bridge and vice versa, the traffic diversion plan is through Thanh Tri bridge or Vinh Thinh bridge.
For passenger cars operating passenger transport on fixed routes to and from My Dinh, Yen Nghia, Son Tay bus stations with routes through Thang Long bridge, the temporary route is adjusted in the direction of Pham Van Dong - Tan Xuan - An Duong Vuong - Nhat Tan bridge and vice versa.
The barricading in the area at the beginning of Thang Long bridge is implemented in 2 phases.
Phase 1, the construction unit barricades 2 lanes in the direction of Hanoi to Dong Anh, about 150m long, expected in 25 days. Vehicles are organized to circulate in both directions on the remaining road section including 3 lanes.
After completing phase 1 and ensuring safe operating conditions, the construction unit removed barriers and organized the opening of 2 lanes in the direction from Hanoi to Dong Anh. At the same time, 3 lanes in the direction from Dong Anh to Hanoi were barricaded to continue construction.
At that time, vehicles are organized to travel in both directions on the remaining 2 lanes of the road.
In the construction area, the maximum speed is adjusted down to 40km/h. Vehicles are prohibited from stopping and parking.
Hanoi Department of Construction also announced the extension of traffic diversion in some areas of the project.
On Do Muoi street, the section from the exit to Ring Road 3 to Linh Nam intersection, the traffic diversion plan according to Notice No. 805/TB-SXD dated May 21, 2026 will continue to be implemented until the end of October 6, 2026.
At the northern intersection at the beginning of Thang Long bridge, the traffic diversion plan to serve the construction and renovation of the asphalt concrete road along phase 1 is extended until the end of September 15, 2026.
The Department of Construction requests the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board to arrange remote warning signs at locations 500m and 100m away from the construction area; install directional cones, lighting, night warning lights and arrange 24/24h on-duty forces to regulate traffic.
Functional forces are requested to strengthen inspection and handle the situation of encroachment on roads, sidewalks, and illegal parking around the construction area.
People and transport units are advised to proactively update traffic diversion plans and choose suitable routes during construction to limit congestion and ensure traffic safety.
