Urgently overcome landslides
Recorded in the afternoon of May 20, construction units mobilized many machines, equipment and manpower to deploy construction teams in the large landslide area on Gia Bac Pass, about 4km from the center of Son Dien commune.

These are two old landslide locations with a total length of about 1km on National Highway 28, occurring from the rainy season of 2025. Currently, the construction unit is deploying to lower the load on the positive slope, dig tarpaulins and adjust the center line towards the positive slope to ensure safety for the road.
After that, the units will continue to reinforce the taluy with rock cages and hard guardrails to limit the risk of landslides during the peak rainy season.
To ensure safety during construction, functional forces arranged people to be on duty at both ends of the route to warn and prevent vehicles from passing through the construction area.
Specifically for motorbikes of local people, functional forces flexibly regulate traffic when safety conditions are ensured to create conditions for travel and transportation of goods for production.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Thanh - Site Manager of Tran Phu Construction Joint Stock Company, one of the construction units - said that the unit is taking advantage of favorable weather to organize overtime work through noon and evening to accelerate the progress of urgently overcoming landslides on a section of about 400m long.
According to Mr. Thanh, the unit also mobilized more mechanical machinery, striving to complete the sidewalk paving item in about a month so that vehicles can circulate safely.
After that, items such as reinforcing the road surface, drainage ditches, hard guardrails and soft guardrails will continue to be completed.
Spending 70 billion VND to overcome landslides
Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan - Chairman of Son Dien Commune People's Committee said that the locality has mobilized police, militia and technical officers to support construction units to overcome landslides on Gia Bac Pass.
At the same time, the locality also requested the investor and construction unit to speed up the progress, shorten it by about 3 months compared to the plan in order to complete the project before the peak of this year's rainy season.

It is known that in January 2026, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued an order to build an emergency project to overcome landslides in the section from Km43+500 to Km60+000 on National Highway 28, passing through Son Dien commune, with a total investment of 70 billion VND.
The project includes 11 locations that need to overcome landslides, with the main solution being to expand the foundation and road surface towards the positive taluy in combination with adjusting the center line to maintain the existing curved radius.

According to functional agencies, the construction progress in the past time has been affected by site clearance problems, mainly related to procedures for felling forest trees and using forest land within the project scope.
Currently, the conversion of forest land use purposes has been completed, and the felling of trees for construction is also being accelerated, striving to be completed before May 30 to hand over the entire site.
To serve construction at two major landslide points on Gia Bac Pass, section Km43+500 to Km54+000, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province has announced the temporary suspension of traffic for vehicles passing through this route section.

The temporary suspension of traffic starts from 5 am on May 20 and lasts until a new notice is issued to create conditions for construction units to accelerate the progress of landslide remediation before the rainy season.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on the morning of May 19, Son Dien Commune People's Committee advised people to limit traffic through Gia Bac Pass due to the high risk of landslides.
At Km51+900 National Highway 28, soil and rocks from the positive slope spilled onto the road surface, causing many traffic difficulties.
On May 19, heavy rain continued to appear in many areas of Son Dien commune, increasing the risk of landslides on the Gia Bac pass.
