On March 2nd, the People's Committee of Dong Le commune (Quang Tri province) said that the recent tornado caused serious damage to agricultural production in the area, especially the winter-spring corn crop.
The tornado suddenly swept through many residential areas and agricultural cultivated areas in Dong Le commune.
According to initial statistics, about 17ha of corn in the flowering stage in Kim Lich, Kim Lu 2, Xuan Canh, Thuan Tien and Tam Da villages were broken and fallen on a large scale.

Many areas of corn that are developing well, preparing to enter the seed production stage, have been heavily affected. Some corn fields have completely collapsed, causing a risk of serious yield reduction if not repaired in time.
In Tuyen Phu commune, Quang Tri province, about 4 hectares of corn were also broken and fallen during the flowering period.
Immediately after the incident occurred, leaders of Dong Le Commune People's Committee and Tuyen Phu Commune People's Committee directly inspected the scene and visited affected households.
Local authorities have directed villages to review and statistically assess the extent of damage to have appropriate support plans. Specialized departments are also required to guide people to collect dumped corn as animal feed.
For corn areas that are still recoverable, people are instructed to rebuild trees, tie them up, care for them, and supplement fertilizer to minimize yield damage.
Currently, local authorities continue to monitor weather developments and advise people to proactively take preventive measures and reinforce crops in extreme weather conditions that may continue in the near future.
