On February 18, Mr. Bui Quang De (residing in Thai Binh province) - a car driver whose tire exploded on the highway - said that he had received 10 million VND to support car repair costs after the expansion joints on National Highway 45 - Nghi Son (through Thanh Hoa province), which occurred on the afternoon of February 6.

Mr. De said that after the incident, the representative of Project Management Board 2 contacted him to propose a solution. After that, he received a support of 10 million VND.
According to the representative of the Project Management Board 2 - Ministry of Transport, the amount of 10 million VND to support Mr. Bui Quang De was from the contractor for the construction of the National Highway 45 - Nghi Son Expressway after the incident.
The representative of Project Management Board 2 also added that if in the coming time, a driver has a similar problem, the support will be specifically assessed based on the cause and extent of damage, thereby providing appropriate solutions.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the evening of February 6, some drivers traveling on the National Highway 45 - Nghi Son (from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi) when arriving at Trung Chinh Commune, Nong Cong District, encountered a dangerous situation when the expansion joints were broken. The incident caused many cars to have flat tires.
It is known that of the about 4 vehicles with flat tires, Mr. Bui Quang De's vehicle (residing in Thai Binh province) was the most severely affected when both tires were punctured (not enough spare tires) and had to call a rescue vehicle for help.
Immediately after the incident, the Road Management Office II.1, under Road Management Area II, Vietnam Road Administration, issued a document requesting Project Management Board 2, Ministry of Transport to fix and repair the broken expansion joints on the expressway through Thanh Hoa province.
