Red sand flood on National Highway 1 causes traffic congestion in Lam Dong

Lam Dong - Red sand floodwaters have come down to cover National Highway 1, making it impossible for vehicles in both directions to travel.

At about 2:00 p.m. on September 15, red sand flooded from a high sand hill, followed by rainwater flowing down and covering a lot of National Highway 1, section Km1651+100 through Luong Dong village, Luong Son commune, Lam Dong province.

At the scene, sand spilled down the road in both directions for vehicles. The spillway is about 100m long and about 0.5m thick.

The spillway is located about 150m from the road. After the sand overflowed, vehicles traveling in both directions on National Highway 1 could not travel.

The commune police and traffic police arrived at the scene to prevent vehicles from circulating.

The local authorities mobilized excavators and dump trucks to the scene to scrap the sand layer on the road.

By 5:00 p.m. the same day, the North-South road had opened 1 lane for traffic. The remaining road section is still temporarily closed to clear the sand due to the thick layer of sand.

Forces were still on duty at the scene to regulate traffic.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tau - a resident near the spillway location said that there was heavy rain at the time of the spill. This is not the first time sand has fallen onto National Highway 1. This is the third time this has happened this year and the most serious, so a definitive solution is needed.
