This move was made by the Traffic Maintenance Board (Hanoi Department of Transport) in response to the congestion on Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc Street (Nam Tu Liem District) in the past time.
According to the Traffic Construction Maintenance Board, on February 21, this agency coordinated with Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) to conduct a re-survey of the entire route, specifically assessing the traffic situation after adjusting traffic signals and discussing solutions to overcome and remove them.
At the time of the survey during peak hours, the working group admitted that the "reversal" red light at the two intersections of Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien was "slightly long" but affirmed that it was still suitable for many times of the day.
The waiting time for a red light is more than 100 seconds, while the green light is a few dozen seconds, which has been adjusted when receiving the feedback.

Regarding people's reflection that there were times when all three directions stopped at red lights, the authorities said this was a "re freely" light span, so that vehicles moving into the intersection had enough time to exit the intersection before other vehicles entered. The nature of this traffic light is to prevent traffic conflicts in the middle of the intersection.
Through coordination and assessment of the situation, the Traffic Construction Maintenance Board proposed that from February 24, a pilot fence at the Tran Huu Duc - Nguyen Van Giap intersection will be built to reduce the conflict. At the same time, turn off traffic lights at this intersection.
Vehicles that want to turn from Tran Huu Duc Street to Nguyen Van Giap must turn around at the opening points.
At the same time, the Traffic Police force will increase personnel to regulate and divert traffic at the intersection in the first days of the pilot so that people can travel conveniently on Trinh Van Bo and Tran Huu Duc streets.

According to people's feedback, since October 2024, the Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc route has continuously experienced prolonged congestion, making it difficult for people to travel.
"Previously, there was no traffic jam on this route, but since adjusting the traffic light signal at the Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien intersections, it has been continuously congested" - Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam (34 years old, Nam Tu Liem) said.
At many times, the line of cars was congested until the middle of the overpass, about 1km. Due to the long traffic jam, drivers of cars and motorbikes had to weave around to find a way.
"The road has up to 8 lanes, so it has become chaotic, people go on the sidewalk, and go in many opposite directions. The traffic police force struggled to regulate the vehicle," said Mr. Nam.
