The above information was shared by Mr. Dinh Van Hai, Director of the Thanh Xuan District Construction Investment Project Management Board (Hanoi) with Lao Dong reporter about the latest update on the progress of handing over the site for the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan street.
Mr. Hai said that to implement the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street, Thanh Xuan District will reclaim and clear 14,334 square meters of land from 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
As of October 7 and November 11, 107 out of 160 households have agreed to hand over the land to the project. The remaining 53 cases have not agreed to the compensation and site clearance plan.
For households and individuals who have not agreed, the Thanh Xuan District Construction Investment Project Management Board and the Thanh Xuan Trung Ward government continue to propagate, mobilize, and propose solutions to ensure the rights of people when their land is recovered.
In case households and individuals still do not comply with compensation and site clearance policies, Thanh Xuan District People's Committee will enforce and reclaim land to implement the project according to regulations.
The enforcement work is expected to take place on October 14 and 15.
As Lao Dong reported, the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street was approved by Thanh Xuan District People's Committee in 2018, with a total investment of about 400 billion VND.
By 2020, Thanh Xuan District People's Committee continued to approve the project's construction drawing design in Decision No. 1928/QD-UBND.
The project is 720m long, starting at the intersection with Nguyen Trai Street, ending at alley 162 Nguyen Tuan, with a cross-section expanded to 21m, including a 15m wide roadway and 2 3m wide sidewalks.
The project aims to help reduce traffic congestion, improve urban landscape and create momentum for socio-economic development in Thanh Xuan district.
Initially, Thanh Xuan district set a target to approve all compensation and site clearance plans by the end of 2022. By mid-2023, the project will be implemented and the road expansion will be completed after 1 year.
However, the project has not been able to be implemented yet. Site clearance is the most difficult and stuck issue causing the project to stagnate.
Reality shows that Nguyen Tuan Street (from Alley 162 to Nguyen Trai intersection) has been one of the "black spots" of traffic congestion in Hanoi for many years.
The route is more than 700m long, with a narrow cross-section of 2 lanes, many sections are "bottlenecks". During rush hour, vehicles line up in long lines, making it very difficult to move.
"I hope the government will soon expand Nguyen Tuan Street so that we can travel with less difficulty. We cannot continue to have people having to struggle to travel through a road that is only 7-8 meters wide like this every morning and afternoon," said Mr. Le Van Hung (54 years old, Thanh Xuan district).
