The first construction phases of the over 20,000 billion VND bridge project in Hanoi

Hanoi - Contractors are currently implementing the construction of bored piles for the Tu Lien bridge project. This item is expected to be completed in 2025.

More than two months ago (May 19), Hanoi started the Tu Lien bridge project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge. The project is about 5.15km long, starting at Nghi Tam intersection and ending at the intersection with Truong Sa road.

Tu Lien Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total investment of more than 20,000 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project is designed on a modern and synchronous scale, meeting the highest technical standards.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-July 2025, contractors have begun to implement important foundation items.

According to the report of the Pacific Group contractor consortium, the construction unit has completed preparations and started drilling and filling the underpass under National Highway 5, main pillars P37 and P38.

The cluster piles are 2.5m in diameter and 65m deep. The deposit drilling work is expected to be completed in October 2025.

On the South bank in Hong Ha ward, the drilling line started operating in mid-July. The contractor is making efforts to soon pour the first piles of concrete for P37 tower in the next few weeks.

Mr. Vuong Chinh Binh - Project Director of the EPC contractor consortium of Tu Lien Bridge, said: "The water level of the Red River this year rises earlier than every year, currently reaching level 5, while it usually takes until August to reach this level. This makes it difficult for construction, but we still maintain progress and only temporarily stop if the water level exceeds 8".

It is expected that by the end of 2025, all bored piles will be completed. In 2026, contractors will focus on the construction of the main tower, and in early 2027, the steel beams will be cast. With the first torsional cable-stayed bridge design in Vietnam, the construction progress requires high accuracy and synchronization.

According to the plan, Tu Lien Bridge will be completed by the end of 2027, after about 30 months of construction.

The completion on schedule will contribute to reducing traffic congestion, promoting economic development and improving the quality of life for Hanoi people.
