Noi Bai International Airport puts into operation a biometric kiosk system at terminal T1, serving passengers traveling on domestic flights. With this system, passengers only need about 10 seconds to complete biometric authentication before completing procedures.
According to the operating unit, passengers perform three steps including: scanning the boarding pass, scanning the citizen identification card with a chip attached to the data reader slot, and looking directly at the camera for the face recognition system.

After completing authentication, biometric data is synchronized on the system, helping passengers use automatic lanes at security checkpoints and aircraft exits without having to verify information or queue as before.
According to statistics from Noi Bai International Airport, the biometric kiosk system successfully serves about 2,000-3,000 passengers per day.
The application of biometric technology in the procedure process contributes to shortening authentication time, reducing pressure in the procedure area, and improving the throughput capacity of Terminal T1, especially during the peak summer transportation period.
To support passengers to get acquainted with new technology, the Youth Union of Noi Bai International Airport arranged 2-3 standing union members at the biometric kiosk area. Volunteers directly guide operations, especially for the elderly and passengers who use this authentication method for the first time.
Representatives of Noi Bai International Airport said that in addition to authentication at kiosks in the terminal, passengers can proactively verify biometrics through the VNeID application or airline applications before arriving at the airport.
In the initial phase of deployment, the system has not been applied to foreign passengers, children under 16 years old and some cases only use VNeID accounts at the airport.
According to Noi Bai International Airport, the system is continuing to be optimized, aiming to expand to serve 100% of passengers in the near future.
For passengers who are not used to using technology or need direct support, traditional check-in counters at T1 terminal still maintain normal operation to meet needs.
