The investment project to complete the construction of the Chua Boc - Thai Ha intersection (Dong Da district) according to the planning at the 1/4 corner of the intersection, from the Banking Academy to the gate of the Trade Union University was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2014 and approved twice for adjustment in 2017 and 2020.
According to the design plan, when the 1/4 corner is completed, Chua Boc street (towards Thai Ha) will be renovated and renovated on the right side of the route, starting from the gate of the Banking Academy through the intersection, then to Tay Son street (towards Nam Dong), ending at the gate of the Trade Union University.
The project has a total length of over 521m, with items such as foundation, road surface, drainage, lighting, trees, sidewalks, traffic organization and other auxiliary works.
After expansion, the road surface of Chua Boc street in the intersection will be 23 - 30m wide; the section from Chua Boc to the intersection will be 16 - 18m wide; the sidewalk will be 3m wide on average.
The project has a total investment of more than 535 billion VND, of which more than 470 billion VND is for site clearance costs.
In 2021, Dong Da district began site clearance, reclaiming 0.98 hectares of land related to 110 households and individuals to implement this project.
More than 3 years later, the local government completed the land acquisition and site clearance work to implement the project.
According to Lao Dong, up to now, the Chua Boc - Thai Ha traffic intersection construction investment project has basically completed all items after about half a year of construction.
This is a joy for people living on Chua Boc street and those who regularly travel through here.
Mr. Le Xuan Hung (36 years old, Quang Trung ward, Dong Da district) said that Chua Boc street from Banking Academy to Trade Union University previously had almost no sidewalks, the road surface was narrow, making it difficult for people to travel.
The remaining 1/4 of the Chua Boc - Thai Ha intersection has not been expanded for many years, causing vehicles to often get "stuck" here during rush hour or bad weather.
"The completed intersection expansion project will not only help reduce traffic congestion and increase traffic capacity here, but also create a balanced and complete landscape for the entire area," said Mr. Hung.
The completion of the Chua Boc - Thai Ha traffic intersection investment project, along with the opening of the Chua Boc - Pham Ngoc Thach intersection overpass in June 2023, has contributed to reducing traffic congestion on Chua Boc street - an area under a lot of traffic pressure in Dong Da district.
