According to the Quang Ngai Department of Construction, due to heavy rain lasting from October 25 to November 2, 2025, hundreds of landslides appeared on many traffic routes in the province, isolating a series of residential areas. The province has declared a natural disaster emergency to mobilize forces to focus on overcoming the situation.
According to preliminary statistics, more than 250 landslides on the slope with about 170,000m3 of rock and soil spilled onto the road on the routes managed by the Department of Construction. The main routes such as National Highway 14C, 24, 24B, 24C, 40B along with many provincial roads and the Ngoc Hoang - Mang But - Tu Mo Rong - Ngoc Linh route are all damaged and interrupted.
The Son Thuong - Son Tinh route had a roadbed eroded from 0.51m to almost the entire route, 3.5km long. Six landslides on the positive slope and a damaged drainage culvert caused traffic jams, isolating about 4,000 people in Son Tay Ha commune. DH.83 route connecting Son Tay Ha commune with Provincial Road 623 also had many landslides, making it impossible for vehicles to move. In Ngoc Linh commune (Tu Mo Rong district, in the old Kon Tum province), the Lang Moi - Tu Rang inter-village road was broken 50m, about 10m deep, completely cutting off the five villages inside.
The Ngoc Linh commune government, military forces and people are opening temporary roads and building an iron bridge to ensure travel. However, this is only a temporary solution, not meeting long-term safety requirements.
The Provincial People's Committee requests units to urgently clear the route, monitor flood developments, evacuate people from dangerous areas and ensure necessities according to the "4 on-site" motto. At the same time, warn of dangerous locations, arrange forces to guide people, mobilize maximum human resources and means to overcome them.
