At noon on April 26, Long An Provincial Police had an initial report on a serious traffic accident on National Highway N2, passing through Tan Thanh District, killing 2 people and seriously injuring 2 others.
According to the initial report, at around 7:00 a.m. the same day, the truck with license plate 62C-024.47 (a garbage truck with a white seaboard), driven by driver Tran Van Hau (45 years old, residing in Tan Thanh town, Tan Thanh district), was traveling from Thap Muoi district (Dong Thap province) to National Highway 62 (Tan Thanh district, Long An province). While traveling on National Highway N2, through Kinh Giua Hamlet, Nhon Ninh Commune, Tan Thanh District, he collided with 2 motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction.
Specifically, the motorbike with license plate 66CA-051.70 was driven by Mr. Phan H.T (18 years old, residing in Xuan Hiep commune, Tra On district, Vinh Long province), carrying Ms. Nguyen Thi T.D (46 years old, residing in Tan An Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City); and the motorbike with license plate 59Y3-766.39 was driven by Mr. Nguyen Vo Q.T (23 years old, residing in Tan An Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City) and carrying Phan H.T (16 years old, residing in Xuan Hiep commune, Tra On district, Vinh Long province).
The collision caused 2 people on motorbike 66CA-051.70, Phan H.T and Nguyen Thi T.D, to die on the spot; Mr. Nguyen Vo Q.T and Phan H.T on motorbike 59Y3-766.39, were seriously injured and are being treated at the hospital. All 3 vehicles were severely damaged and thrown to the side of the road.
The truck that caused the accident is owned by Tan Thanh Urban Construction Joint Stock Company, with an inspection certificate issued on April 8, 2025 and valid until October 7, 2025.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated and clarified by Long An Provincial Police in coordination with relevant agencies. The authorities have also conducted an alcohol and drug test on the garbage truck driver Tran Van Hau, and are currently waiting for the results.
