On December 17, Mr. Duong Huu Chanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Lam 5 commune (Lam Dong), said that in the past time, the locality has been coordinating with the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province to focus on overcoming potential "black" points that pose a risk of causing traffic accidents on Pass B40.
B40 Pass is more than 10km long, one way down to Con O Pass through Da Teh Commune to National Highway 20. The remaining route connects with National Highway 28 through Gia Nghia (old Dak Nong province).

According to statistics, from July to the end of August 2025, there were at least 4 traffic accidents on Pass B40, causing many trucks and tractors to overturn, including 1 fatal accident.

For more than 10 days, the construction unit has focused on handling "black" points on B40 Pass such as: installing speed limiters, guardrails, reflection systems, cau mirrors, warning signs, lighting; at the same time, repairing life paths and attaching additional warning signs at the curves.

It is noted that at the 2 turns of the road with a long slope, the construction unit has installed thick speed reducers, extending about 500m/turn.
After installing a speed limiter, vehicles traveling through this area must limit speed, up to a maximum of less than 30km/h.

Reflective systems are also installed at most guardrails on B40 Pass to create a warning effect for drivers traveling at night and in deep fog conditions.

Installing and adding speed limiters, guardrails, reflectors, bridge mirrors, lighting and warning signs will help drivers control speed when crossing B40 Pass, while helping people clearly identify dangerous black spots to focus on safe driving, thereby minimizing traffic accidents on the pass, said Mr. Duong Huu Chanh, Chairman of Bao Lam 5 Commune Peoples Committee.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, according to statistics from the authorities of Bao Lam 5 commune, there are currently 6 "black" points on Pass B40 where traffic accidents often occur that need to be fixed.

To ensure traffic safety for people and vehicles traveling through Pass B40, the People's Committee of Bao Lam 5 commune has assigned the Commune Police to count the shortcomings, thereby advising the Commune People's Committee to report and propose to the relevant agencies of Lam Dong province to soon take upgrading and remedial measures.
