On August 1, the Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police said that it is mobilizing maximum forces to deploy a thematic inspection of container drivers on key routes, especially National Highway 26 - where a large number of durian transport vehicles circulate every day.
According to functional forces, the 2026 durian crop season caused a sudden increase in container truck traffic.
Faced with the risk of some drivers using stimulants or drugs to stay up late and drive more than the prescribed time, the Traffic Police Department has organized patrols, established checkpoints 24/24 hours, combined with rapid drug tests for container drivers.
Task forces are deployed at the gateway to National Highway 26, warehouse areas, large durian purchasing points and routes with high traffic density.
According to the Traffic Police Department, this is not a short-term peak period but a topic maintained throughout the durian harvest season to detect and prevent early traffic accident risks.
Notably, in addition to checking drivers, functional forces will verify the responsibilities of transport businesses, warehouse owners, and warehouse owners if they hand over vehicles to people who are not qualified to control or loosen management.
Lieutenant Colonel Luong Xuan Ngoc - Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 - said that in recent days, functional forces have inspected and tested many container drivers for drugs but have not detected any positive cases.
In the coming time, surprise inspections will continue to be maintained to ensure traffic safety throughout the durian harvest season.
The Traffic Police Department also recommends that transport businesses and vehicle owners not hand over vehicles to drivers who do not meet the conditions due to schedule pressure or profit; and at the same time request drivers to absolutely not use drugs, stimulants and strictly comply with regulations on driving time and rest.
