Today (August 17) took place the final round at the 2024 National Golf Championship .
Entering the final round, golfer Nguyen Duc Son temporarily leads the men's rankings with a difference of one stroke compared to the two following athletes, Nguyen Tuan Anh and Doan Uy.
On this day of competition, all three athletes started at hole number 1. Duc Son had an advantage and was in quite a comfortable spirit when entering the important round. He maintained good form when he continuously scored par and birdie points in the first 17 holes of the match, only having 1 bogey point at hole number 18.
Thereby, Nguyen Duc Son ended the last day of competition with a score of 68 strokes and a total score of 282 (-6 strokes) after 4 rounds. This achievement helped him set a record as the championship athlete with the best stroke record in the tournament's history.
“The championship is very important, it is my first national championship title. This is a gift for my parents, who have accompanied me throughout the years. My next goal is to achieve even better results," the defending champion shared.
Finishing as runner-up this season was golfer Nguyen Tuan Anh. Starting in the same group as a direct competitor, Nguyen Tuan Anh entered the 4th round and made a bogey on hole number 1. However, he later regained his spirit and played better with a par score and birdie at holes 2 and 3 respectively, completing the round with a result of (-2) strokes. Thereby, ending the tournament with a total score of 285 (-3 strokes).
In 3rd place, Doan Uy had a regretful day when he scored 4 bogeys, 2 double bogeys and ended the final round with a result of (+5) strokes. Doan Uy's total score after 4 rounds is 292 (+4).
In the women's group, Le Chuc An made tournament history when she became the first female golfer to successfully defend the championship after 2 consecutive years (2023 and 2024).
On the last day of competition, Chuc An scored 2 birdies, made only 1 bogey, 1 double bogey and finished with (+2) strokes. Chuc An's total score after 4 rounds is 289 points.
This victory made Le Chuc An emotional: "I'm very happy to win this year's tournament. This is the motivation for me to continue practicing to improve my level and confidently head towards SEA Games 33."
The runner-up position in the women's group belongs to Nguyen Viet Gia Han with a score of 291 points after 4 rounds. On the last day of competition, Gia Han scored 2 birdies, 2 bogeys, 2 double bogeys and finished with (+4) strokes.
Third place belonged to Ngo Vinh Hoa, when her total score was only 1 stroke behind the runner-up. Vinh Hoa showed an impressive performance on the last day of competition when scoring 14 consecutive par points, making only 1 bogey, 1 double bogey and achieving a result of (+3) strokes.
