Supporting aquaculture farmers on Phu Quy island to overcome storm damage

Lam Dong - 41 households on Phu Quy island farming aquatic products damaged by Typhoon Koto on November 11, 2025 have just received support from the Fatherland Front.

On June 7, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone said that it had provided support to 41 households with aquaculture cages and rafts damaged by storm No. 15 (storm Koto) that occurred at the end of November 2025.

The total support fund is more than 307 million VND, deducted from the Lam Dong Provincial Relief Fund. This is a source of encouragement to help households gradually overcome the consequences of natural disasters and restore production activities at sea.

According to local authorities, when Typhoon Koto made landfall, large waves and extreme weather damaged many cages for raising grouper, grouper and blue lobster. The damage directly affected the livelihoods of many households attached to aquaculture on the island.

After the storm, functional agencies have recorded and statistically analyzed actual damage. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone coordinated to review and guide people to complete dossiers to propose to the Provincial Relief Committee for consideration and support according to regulations. The implementation process was implemented publicly, ensuring the right subjects and timely.

Up to now, after being allocated funds, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone - Special Zone Relief Committee has organized direct support for affected households.

Phu Quy Special Zone is a locality with strengths in the marine economy, in which aquaculture and seafood exploitation are the main sources of income for many families. Therefore, the damage caused by the storm has significantly impacted people's lives and production activities.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone, the support funds are not only of material significance but also show the community's concern and sharing with people in the sea and island areas.

Thereby contributing to helping households overcome difficulties, soon restore production, stabilize their lives and continue to develop the family economy.
