On February 9th, on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union organized visits, gifts and prepared a year-end meal with Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the province.
The program is maintained annually by the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union in coordination with Quang Tri Trade Corporation every Tet holiday, spring comes, to encourage, express gratitude and share the joy of the new year with Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
In Cua Tung commune, a delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Youth Federation visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Ngo Thi Mung (90 years old). Moved by the concern of youth union members, Mother Mung expressed her joy when every year children come to visit and ask about her.

Passing the age of 90, Ngo Thi Mung's mother still carries in her heart the pain of loss when her husband, martyr Nguyen Xuan Tan, sacrificed in 1969 in the Quang Nam battlefield and his remains have not been found to this day. Her son, martyr Nguyen Van Trung, who sacrificed in 1979 in the Southwest battlefield, has been brought back for burial, but there are no more portraits for her mother to admire. For her, conversations, family meals with youth are a simple comfort and happiness in everyday life.
About 30km away, in Ben Hai commune, the delegation stopped at the newly built house of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Tran Thi Lien (95 years old) to organize a year-end meal and health check for her mother. Nearly 10 youth union members and their children and grandchildren in the family prepared a simple but warm, emotional meal.
Mother Tran Thi Lien is still lucid and able to walk. Her family has two martyrs, her husband Hoang Do who sacrificed in 1968 and her son Hoang Van Dinh who sacrificed in the Cambodian battlefield, whose whereabouts have not been found yet.
After the merger, Quang Tri province currently has 20 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. On the same morning, Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union divided into 3 working delegations to visit, encourage and organize a year-end meal with 9 mothers, contributing to bringing a warm and meaningful spring.
