120 websites, 44 e-commerce applications urgently explained

The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy coordinates with the General Department of Taxation to review businesses providing e-commerce services that have stopped operating.

The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) is coordinating with the General Department of Taxation (Ministry of Finance) to review and request traders and organizations that own 120 websites and 44 applications to clarify whether they have stopped providing e-commerce services or have dissolved or stopped operating or are no longer operating at the registered address.

Based on data provided by the General Department of Taxation in Official Dispatch No. 439/TCT-DNNCN dated January 24, 2025, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy requested traders and organizations owning 120 websites and 44 e-commerce applications to explain whether they have stopped providing services or have dissolved or stopped operating, and are no longer operating at the registered address.

In case after 30 days, the enterprise does not respond with information, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will terminate the registration of the website and e-commerce application according to the provisions of Point c, Clause 3, Article 56 of Decree No. 52/2013/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Decree No. 85/2021/ND-CP).

In the context of the rapidly developing e-commerce market, which also poses many challenges in management, coordination between e-commerce management agencies and tax authorities is necessary to improve management efficiency, while strengthening control and authentication of information of traders, business organizations and taxpayers.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance continue to promote the review and comparison of data, perfect relevant legal regulations, as well as enhance the application of technology in management to promptly detect and handle violations, ensuring a transparent, fair and sustainable e-commerce environment.
