After more than 25 years of widespread deployment, the lending model through the Loan Group of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has affirmed its double efficiency in the rural economic flow. Loan Group - Effective capital channel, promoting outstanding superior value
In recent years, Agribank has always affirmed its key role in the rural financial market. Implementing Decree No. 55/2015/ND-CP dated June 9, 2015 of the Government on agricultural and rural development (Decree 55) and directives of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Agribank has effectively coordinated with socio-political organizations, in which the core is the Farmers' Associations and Women's Unions at all levels, organizing the implementation of specific contents on credit policies serving agricultural and rural development associated with the implementation of professional tasks and political tasks of each sector assigned by the Party and the State.
One of the "points" helping Agribank bring credit capital to reach widely and promptly to each household and production household is the form of lending through the Loan Group (Saving and Loan Group). Promoting this model is not simply expanding the capital channel, but also maximizing the strengths of a bank closely linked to agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

Currently, Agribank has more than 2,200 transaction points, 68 mobile transaction points using specialized vehicles; total mobilized capital reaches over 2.5 million billion VND, total outstanding loans to the economy reach over 2 million billion VND, of which outstanding loans in the agricultural and rural sectors account for over 60%. With a capital channel through loan groups, Agribank directly provides bank credit to millions of customers in agricultural, rural, remote, border, and island areas; contributing to concretizing the goal of comprehensive finance and affirming its key role in credit serving "agriculture and rural areas". Agribank is implementing lending through loan groups at 105 Branches in 34 provinces and cities across the country with a network of nearly 60,000 loan groups, nearly 1 million members participating and outstanding loans up to over 215,000 billion VND.

Promoting the strengths of key banks serving "Tam Nong
On June 5, 2026, the General Director of Agribank signed and issued a document directing Type I Branches to promote the implementation of lending activities through the Loan Group (document No. 9515/NHNo-KHCN) in order to create stronger and more synchronous movement throughout the system, and at the same time link lending activities through the Loan Group with major goals on agricultural and rural development, green finance, digital transformation and comprehensive finance.
Accordingly, the General Director requested the Directors of Type I Branches to directly be responsible and focus on drastically implementing 10 key task groups to develop the form of group-based lending.

Towards sustainable development in the digital age
In the current period, Vietnamese agriculture is facing the requirement of strong transformation towards ecology, modernity, application of high technology, green and sustainable development. Implementing the major policies of the Party and State, especially the resolutions of the Politburo and the Government's action program, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and green growth have been identified as key driving forces for the development of modern, efficient and sustainable agriculture.

With the role of a 100% state-owned commercial bank, the main investor in the "Tam Nong" sector, Agribank determines that accompanying farmers is not only a business task but also a political responsibility and community development mission. Agribank has been and is synchronously implementing many breakthrough solutions in technology, actively digitizing lending activities through groups to improve access to financial services for rural people. The application of digital banking applications and cashless payments in interest and principal collection helps the operations of loan groups become more transparent, accurate and secure.
Besides digital transformation, Agribank considers green credit as an important driving force to promote growth model transformation in agriculture. Capital is focused on green agriculture, clean agriculture, high-tech agriculture, circular economy models, emission reduction projects, sustainable production linkage chains and models adapted to climate change.
