Mr. Huynh Cong Quan - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Bac Lieu province - said that this weekend, the leaders of Bac Lieu province will meet with domestic and foreign enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the investment promotion conference. According to Mr. Quan, the investment promotion conference is expected to be held in early March 2025, with nearly 20 projects with a total investment capital of nearly 2,000 billion VND. The projects that many investors are interested in are mainly in the energy sector.
Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu said that this week, the province will work with units of the Ministry of National Defense and relevant ministries and branches to remove difficulties for the Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant project in order to restart the project as soon as possible.
The Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee also requested Bac Lieu City to quickly promote land use planning in the area to call for investment; auction land use rights in the area; quickly promote social housing projects, projects with allocated capital for 2025.
Regarding production, the Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to immediately deploy a plan to respond to drought and salinity. In particular, people in drought and salinity areas should not lack clean water; and damage caused by drought and salinity should be minimized.
Regarding the organization of the Salt Festival, on February 3, provincial leaders surveyed the salt fields of the Dong Hai High-Tech Salt Cooperative, located in Truong Dien Hamlet, Long Dien Dong Commune. According to the plan, this area will be a place to visit and experience the salt making profession of Bac Lieu during the Festival.
Dong Hai High-Tech Salt Cooperative has a total salt production area of 68.5 hectares, of which 35 hectares apply the tarpaulin method. Currently, some salt areas of the Cooperative are close to harvest time, while salt farmers are actively adding water to the salt fields to ensure continuous salt production throughout the Festival.
After inspecting the salt production situation of salt farmers, the provincial leaders continued to survey construction sites such as the grandstand, the display area for booths introducing the province's salt products and the location for the welcome gate of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival. The provincial leaders also met with artisans making products from salt.
Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee Lu Van Hung requested local leaders to urgently complete assigned projects and tasks, especially the propaganda and mobilization of salt farmers to participate in the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival; ensuring that during the festival, salt farmers' salt fields must have salt products. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary also requested relevant departments and branches to strengthen coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to complete projects on schedule.
