Ministry of Industry and Trade responds to voters' petitions on trading in counterfeit and fake goods

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the coming time, it will focus on fighting, detecting and strictly handling acts of producing and trading in counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin.

The National Assembly's Committee for Petitions and Supervision has issued a document transferring the opinions of voters in Da Nang City to the Ministry of Industry and Trade after the First Session, 16th National Assembly.

Voters proposed to strengthen market inspection and control to strictly handle acts of producing and trading in counterfeit goods, fake goods, and poor quality goods in order to protect the legitimate rights and health of consumers.

At the same time, contributing to building a healthy, transparent business environment and ensuring fair competition among business entities.

Regarding this content, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that in the past time, the Ministry has directed the Domestic Market Management and Development Department to closely coordinate with ministries, branches, localities and functional forces to strengthen market inspection and control.

Along with that, focus on fighting, detecting and strictly handling acts of producing and trading in counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, goods of unknown origin, poor quality goods and acts of trade fraud.

At the same time, strengthen the application of information technology, build a risk management database, promptly detect and handle violations, especially in the e-commerce environment.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first 6 months of 2026, the Market Management force inspected, detected and handled nearly 5,400 cases of violations of counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights, and administratively fined nearly 66 billion VND.

Many cases with signs of crime have been transferred to the investigating agency for handling according to the provisions of law.

In particular, implementing the peak period from May 7, 2026 to May 30, 2026 under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Market Management force inspected 4,701 cases, handled 3-730 violations, transferred 37 cases with criminal signs to the investigating agency, and the total amount of administrative violation fines reached 41.4 billion VND.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to direct the strengthening of market inspection and control, focusing on groups of goods with high risk of violations and business activities in the e-commerce environment.

Promote the application of digital technology in market management and supervision; strengthen inter-sectoral coordination, strictly handle acts of producing and trading in counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, goods of unknown origin and goods infringing intellectual property rights.

At the same time, continue to improve mechanisms and policies and promote propaganda, raise awareness of businesses and consumers, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights of consumers, building a transparent, healthy business environment and ensuring fair competition.
