VAT extended to 6 months
The Ministry of Finance is seeking opinions on a draft decree to extend the payment period of value added tax (VAT), corporate income tax, personal income tax and land rent in 2025. The total amount of extended taxes is expected to reach nearly VND102,000 billion, helping businesses and business households reduce financial pressure in the short term. According to the draft, the Ministry of Finance proposes:
extend for 6 months the value-added tax (VAT) of February, March and the first quarter.
extend for 5 months the VAT amount for April, May and the second quarter.
The total amount of extended VAT is expected to be about VND62,000 billion.
Corporate income tax extended for 5 months
The Ministry of Finance proposes a 5-month extension for the amount of corporate income tax temporarily paid in the first and second quarters. The total amount of extended corporate income tax is about VND36,000 billion.
Business households are granted an extension of personal income tax
For business households and individuals, the Ministry of Finance proposes to extend the payment period for value added tax and personal income tax arising in 2025. The extended tax amount is about 350 billion VND.
Land rent extended for 6 months
The Ministry also proposed to extend 50% of the land rent payable to enterprises, households, and business organizations that are subject to regulations. The extension period is 6 months, calculated from May 31, 2025, with an amount of about VND 3,600 billion.
The Ministry of Finance affirmed that the tax extension will not affect state budget revenue, because these taxes must still be fully paid before December 31, 2025.
