Abundant supply, markets and supermarkets closed
The Ministry of Finance said that most traditional markets in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, etc. are temporarily closed on the first day of the Lunar New Year. Some small traders are open to sell vegetables, fruits, or spices, but there are not many customers because people have already shopped and are mainly going on spring outings and temple visits.
Supermarkets are also closed for Tet, except for a few large shopping centers such as Aeon Mall, Gigamall and convenience store chains (Family Mart, GS25, Kingfood Mart...) that still serve during Tet. Thanks to that, essential goods are still available, there is no shortage or sudden price increase.
Tickets remain the same, parking fees increase
According to the report, at Dam Sen Cultural Park (Ho Chi Minh City): Game tickets with buffet for adults (over 1m4) are 470,000 VND/ticket, children 380,000 VND/ticket; entrance tickets for adults are 160,000 VND/ticket, children are 100,000 VND/ticket.
Dam Sen Water Park: Adult ticket 220,000 VND/ticket, children 180,000 VND/ticket (same as usual).
Suoi Tien Tourist Area: Entrance fee for adults is 160,000 VND, children are 90,000 VND, an increase of 10,000 VND compared to last year.
Meanwhile, vehicle parking services at spontaneous locations near temples, pagodas, and tourist areas have increased, with motorbikes ranging from 5,000 - 20,000 VND/vehicle, and cars from 50,000 - 100,000 VND/vehicle.
In other localities like Hanoi, most markets and supermarkets are closed, with only a few stalls selling vegetables, fresh fish, candy, soft drinks... Prices are stable, not many customers.
Meanwhile in Da Nang, from the afternoon of January 28 (December 29), purchasing power gradually decreased, and on the first day of Tet, markets and supermarkets stopped operating. Tickets to Ba Na Hills remained at 600,000 VND/adult and 500,000 VND/child (from 1m - 1.4m).
In Can Tho, markets and supermarkets are closed for Tet, only a few convenience stores are open. Gas stations are still operating according to their registered hours.
In Hai Phong, taxi fares have not increased but there is still a shortage of vehicles due to high travel demand. Parking fees have increased by 5,000 - 10,000 VND/trip depending on the location.
Forecast for today, the 2nd day of Lunar New Year
The Ministry of Finance forecasts that from the second day of Tet, large supermarket chains (Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, BigC, Go!) will reopen, goods will be abundant, so prices will not fluctuate much. However, in places with a large number of tourists, prices for parking and food services may increase due to labor costs and taking advantage of purchasing power during the festival.
Authorities and localities will continue to closely monitor and strictly handle acts of taking advantage of Tet to raise prices and hoard goods. The Ministry of Finance recommends that people choose shopping locations and services with clear price lists to avoid being "inflated".
