Shifting green energy, sustainable development becomes an internal need
On June 17, Voice of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper (VOV) in coordination with the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) organized the "Biofuel Development Forum 2026: From the Party's policy to national action".

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Dao Duy Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion - said that the development of renewable energy, including biofuels, is a green and sustainable development trend not only of Vietnam but of all humanity.
In the context of increasingly complex climate change, increasingly depleted mineral fuel supply and always posing a risk of supply disruption due to geopolitical conflicts and wars, renewable energy and biofuels become particularly meaningful not only for the environment but also for the energy security of each country.

According to Mr. Dao Duy Anh, green energy transition and sustainable development have become an internal need of the nation, a driving force for development and competitiveness of the economy. Especially in the context that goods must be produced from raw materials and fuels associated with environmental protection and emission reduction factors, which has become mandatory when entering some countries and territories.
At the same time, developing renewable energy based on the potential of raw materials and natural conditions of the nation will increase energy self-sufficiency, contributing to ensuring energy security for the nation. This is the foundation, and also an important premise for socio-economic development, in a proactive and flexible manner.
These requirements require us to act, act decisively right now to develop green energy sources, use greener, cleaner, and renewable fuels for sustainable development, gradually forming a mindset that all activities from production to consumption and living are associated with the goal of energy saving, using green and clean energy sources and fuels for a developed society, people with high incomes and living in a healthy environment" - Mr. Dao Duy Anh emphasized.
5 experiences from Brazil on biofuel development
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Marco Farani - Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam - said that Vietnam is in a period of strong transformation of the energy industry.

Mr. Marco Farani said that from Brazil's experience, Vietnam can draw five practical lessons.
First, Vietnam can see bioethanol as a supplementary solution in the process of reducing carbon emissions in the transportation industry, instead of considering it as a barrier or competition against the trend of electrification.
Second, Vietnam can gradually improve the mandatory regulations on blending ratios, associated with technical standards, fuel quality control and vehicle inspection.
Third, Vietnam can build a national sustainable development framework similar to RenovaBio, including an emission inventory system throughout the product life cycle and criteria for land use conditions.
Fourth, Vietnam can link the development of biofuels with rural development goals and industrial policies, thereby creating benefits that are not limited to emission cuts.
Fifth, Vietnam should soon focus on investing in cooperation between the government, fuel businesses, automakers, farmers and universities; because Brazil's success stems from building a synchronous system, not from individual measures.
