Large demand for logistics and marine economy human resources
On May 19, Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee organized a workshop "Developing the marine economy and human resources for the marine economy of Ca Mau province in the period 2026 - 2045".
Attending the workshop were Mr. Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ca Mau province and many experts and scientists.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing policies for marine economic development, orientations for marine economic development in the Southwest region, human resource planning and educational strategies to serve marine economic development of Ca Mau province.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Hoang - Ba Ria - Vung Tau University - said that Ca Mau's transport infrastructure is still limited, especially connecting with Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region and major logistics centers.
According to Mr. Hoang, the road transport system is not synchronized; there is a lack of inter-regional expressways; large-scale seaport infrastructure has not been effectively exploited; railway transport has not been formed, and aviation and logistics infrastructure is still in the early stages of development.

However, in the period 2025 - 2030, many strategic infrastructure projects are being implemented such as the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, Ca Mau - Dat Mui, the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho - Ca Mau high-speed railway line and the development orientation of Hon Khoai deep-water seaport.
This will be the foundation to promote the great demand for high-quality human resources in the fields of logistics, seaport management, infrastructure engineering, modern transportation operation and marine economy," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Hoang said.

He believes that, with advantages in seaports, inland waterways, highways, aviation and high-speed railway development orientation, Ca Mau has many conditions to develop multimodal logistics of the Mekong Delta region.
According to forecasts, from now to 2035, the province's labor demand will increase sharply in the fields of logistics, supply chain management, marine economy, infrastructure construction, smart transportation operation and digital technology.
Focus on developing coastal economic zones
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics - said that it is necessary to improve the operational efficiency of coastal economic zones, and at the same time study the construction of special economic zones to create a new growth pole for the region.

According to Dr. Thien, coastal areas need to be invested in to become a driving force for development, linked to industrial parks, export processing zones and coastal ecological urban areas.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su said that with 3 sides bordering the sea, a coastline of more than 310km and a unique marine forest ecosystem, Ca Mau has great potential for developing aquaculture, exploitation, seafood processing, marine logistics, renewable energy, ecotourism and seaport services.
Mr. Le Van Su proposed that universities, research institutes and businesses continue to coordinate with the province in training human resources to serve the marine economy, especially in the fields of logistics, seaport services, renewable energy, high-tech fisheries and digital transformation.

According to the set target, by 2030, Ca Mau strives to achieve an average GRDP growth rate of 10% or more; marine economic sectors contribute about 40 - 45% of the province's total budget revenue; GRDP per capita reaches over 6,000 USD.
By 2045, Ca Mau is oriented to become a strongly developed marine economy locality of the Mekong Delta region, with marine economic sectors developing in a modern, green and sustainable direction.
