Ca Mau - People in Tan Loc commune discovered a crocodile floating in a pond behind their house, so they reported it to the local authorities for handling measures.

On May 15, leaders of Tan Loc Commune People's Committee, Ca Mau province said that the locality had sent forces to the scene after receiving a report from people about the appearance of crocodiles in their pond in Kenh Mieu hamlet.

According to initial information, the crocodile weighed about 13kg, usually floating to the surface and then quickly diving down. Local authorities are coordinating with people to calculate a plan to encircle and capture it to ensure safety.

Ms. Thach Thi My Nhan - a local resident - said that for about 2 days, family members have seen crocodiles appear in the pond behind the house many times. She used her phone to film a clip and posted it on social networks to warn people around.

My mother was the first person to discover the crocodile floating to the surface of the water the previous morning. After that, the animal continuously floated up and then dived down, sometimes stirring the water strongly and hiding in the water spinach patches," Ms. Nhan said.

According to Ms. Nhan's family, about a week ago, a household living nearby also discovered a crocodile of similar size in the pond. People used nets to surround and catch it but failed, then the animal disappeared.

The family suspects that the crocodile appearing in Ms. Nhan's pond may have been the one that appeared in the neighbor's pond before.
