According to initial information, at about 8:20 PM on May 16, Mr. L.V. H (47 years old, residing in Tan Tien commune) was driving a speedboat carrying his wife, Ms. H.T. T, from his house to the shrimp pond. When arriving at the Trang Tram river junction area, near the Ho Gui estuary (Mai Hoa hamlet, Tan Tien commune, Ca Mau), the vehicle suddenly capsized and sank.
Discovering the incident, local people promptly rescued Ms. T ashore safely, while Mr. H went missing on the river.
Immediately after receiving the news, Tan Tien Commune People's Committee mobilized the Police and Military forces of the commune to coordinate with Tan Tien Border Guard Station and people to organize search and rescue.
According to local leaders, the area where the incident occurred has many river and canal crossings leading to the sea mouth, high water and fast flow, so the search work is facing many difficulties.
At about 2 pm on May 18, functional forces found Mr. H's body in the Trang Tram river section, about 5km from the scene.
It is known that Mr. and Mrs. H are both teachers working at a primary school in Tan Tien commune.
