Business process changes from the root
Tightening processes in e-commerce is contributing to creating a more transparent and fair business environment, while strengthening the protection of the rights of both sellers and consumers.
According to Mr. Dang La Huy - representative of Cocoon Brand, the impact of the E-commerce Law is most clearly shown in the changes in the business process. All departments must comply with new regulations, from production, inspection, packaging to when products are put on the e-commerce platform and delivered to consumers. In particular, in the e-commerce business department, all information posted about products, from descriptions, announced content to related documents, is carefully reviewed before appearing on the platform.
If previously businesses only needed to send products and some basic information to content creators, KOLs or KOCs to livestream sales, now all product data must be fully checked before being introduced to consumers.
In the opposite direction, content creators also change their ways of doing things. Instead of just receiving information from businesses for promotion, they proactively verify the origin, profile and legal information of the product before introducing it on livestream sessions.
Raising awareness to make the law effective
Not only businesses, e-commerce platforms have also proactively prepared early to meet the new regulations. Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - representative of TikTok Vietnam - said that the Law on E-commerce was passed in 2025, so the parties had more than 6 months of preparation. In early July 2026, the guiding decree was issued, creating a basis for the regulations to be implemented synchronously.
The unit has adjusted not only policies but also changed directly on products and applications to ensure that the requirements of the law are applied in practice. However, Mr. Thanh said that the current challenge is no longer in building policies but in raising awareness of market participants. Although the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy and Departments of Industry and Trade have promoted propaganda, there are still many brands, sellers and content creators who do not fully grasp the new regulations.
From the perspective of management agencies, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of the Center for Development of E-commerce and Digital Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), said that digital platforms are actively completing many conditions to meet new regulations such as goods control, identification and electronic authentication, data storage, user information as well as completing the process of resolving consumer complaints in a more transparent direction.
An important new point of the E-commerce Law is that for the first time, it aims to build a transparent competitive environment, sustainable development and harmonious protection of the interests of all parties. If previously the main policies focused on protecting buyers, now the law has added many regulations to protect both sellers, contributing to balancing rights and interests in online transactions.
He also emphasized that in the coming period, the effectiveness of the law will greatly depend on the implementation. In addition to propaganda, management agencies will strengthen inspection and supervision of the compliance of platforms and market participants. When violations are detected, consumers can directly report to the platform or send information through the e-commerce management portal of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for functional agencies to consider and handle according to regulations.
