Can Tho - The quiet shopping atmosphere makes many traders at traditional markets quite cautious in supplementing the supply for the April 30 holiday.

just enough to meet the needs

Recorded at traditional markets in Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho city) such as Tan An, Xuan Khanh... goods are abundant from agricultural products, seafood to luxury goods. With stable supply and average purchasing power, most of the traders do not store goods during the holidays, mainly importing enough to supply the market.

retailer Nguyen Thi Phuong Hong (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) shared that since the COVID-19 pandemic, consumer purchasing power has decreased sharply, even during holidays and Tet, the amount of goods sold has only increased slightly.

The female trader added that because she sells vegetables and tubers, which are perishable, especially in hot weather like now, in the past few years, she has mostly not stored goods but only imported enough to sell.

"During the upcoming holidays of April 30 and May 1, if demand increases, I will text the farm owner to adjust and add more vegetables and tubers instead of stocking up. The reason is that the supply is abundant and always available. By doing so, I can reduce the amount of lost vegetables and tubers, improving my profit, Ms. Hong shared.

Competition with supermarket systems, stores and online shopping channels makes trader Nguyen Thi Hue Huong (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) quite cautious in storing goods for the holiday.

Accordingly, Ms. Huong mainly relies on consumer demand to supplement goods: Consumers shopping habits are changing, traditional markets are no longer the top choice. In addition, many customers tend to buy enough to ensure delicious fresh food, so I do not store goods massively," said Ms. Huong.
