On November 12, at the workshop “Pioneering dual transformation for a greener Vietnam”, businesses affirmed the importance of green growth that will make a difference for businesses in the global market.
Ms. Le Minh Trang - Deputy Director of Retail Research Department of NielsenIQ Vietnam committed that businesses will produce green to meet more consumer demands. Green production is an urgent solution to help businesses reduce long-term costs by optimizing energy and raw materials, reducing waste, thereby improving profit margins.
In order to achieve sustainable development goals and participate more deeply in global value chains, green transformation is not only an inevitable path for Vietnam to achieve its net zero emissions target, but also a mandatory path for businesses to take.
Green transformation contributes to enhancing brand image, creating competitive advantages in the market. Compliance with international and national environmental standards opens up many new export and business cooperation opportunities for many enterprises.
Thanks to its sustainable development strategy following the circular economy model, Masan High-Tech Materials has made a difference in the global market, Mr. Craig Richard Bradshaw - General Director of Masan High-Tech Materials emphasized.
The company is currently applying the 3Rs model “Reduce – Reuse – Recycle” to all production and operation activities. At the same time, it is constantly improving to aim at minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
Overall, Vietnamese businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, still face difficulties in accessing the necessary technology to implement sustainable solutions. The application of sustainable production methods requires large initial investments, which will increase operating costs.
Sharing at the workshop, Mr. Craig Richard Bradshaw said: “In developing an effective sustainable strategy, small and medium enterprises need to carefully consider investment costs and long-term benefits.
Businesses should not increase prices too high for sustainable products. Unreasonable price increases can make consumers lose interest in the product.
On the textile industry side, instead of using polyester derived from petroleum, the recycled material fashion brand REPEET has applied the production of sustainable fashion products from recycled polyester fibers sourced in Vietnam. With a sustainable development strategy, REPEET is expanding to demanding markets such as Japan, the US and Europe - markets where product quality and sustainability criteria are top priorities, shared Mr. Vang Vien Thong - CEO of the recycled material fashion brand REPEET.
By using this method, REPEET has contributed to recycling nearly 1.45 million PET plastic bottles, reducing carbon emissions into the environment equivalent to a car running 57,000 km, while saving 70,000 liters of water. A result beyond the expectations of small and medium enterprises.
Within the framework of the workshop, Mr. Alexander Evchenko - Director of 1C Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that dual transformation is a comprehensive and urgent process, in which digital transformation is a tool to promote green transformation.
Representatives of many businesses also affirmed that green transformation brings many opportunities for businesses. Through green transformation, businesses not only enhance the value of products and services but also gradually affirm their responsibility to the environment and community, creating trust and prestige with partners and consumers.
