At the Banking Credit Promotion Conference to contribute to economic growth in Region 14 held on March 25, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) said that in 2025, it has urgently concretized into goals and solutions for the entire system of currency, credit, restructuring, handling bad debts, inspection, supervision, ensuring security, safety of payment operations, etc.

Regarding credit activities, on December 30, 2024, the SBV announced and immediately assigned a credit growth target of about 16% in 2025 to credit institutions (CIs) to proactively grow credit, meeting the capital needs of people, businesses, and the economy.
Area 14 (including localities: Can Tho, Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu) currently has 1 head office of TCTD (Vietbank), 129 level 1 branches of TCTD, 01 Cooperative Bank, 32 People's Credit Funds, 45 district/district branches of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, 251 transaction offices (PGD); 1 CEP micro-organization branch and 8 representative offices; 5 branches of the Bank for Social Policies (BSP) with 164 affiliated transaction points and 4 mobile transaction vehicles for customers.
In area 14, there are still 940 ATMs, 13,312 POS machines, ATMs and POS machines operating smoothly, the work of handling ATM funds is carried out promptly, serving the payment and cash withdrawal needs of customers.
It is estimated that by the end of February 2025, total outstanding credit in region 14 will reach VND 387,350 billion, up 0.42% compared to the end of 2024 (lower than the national growth rate of 0.8%), accounting for 31.73% of total outstanding credit in the Mekong Delta region, accounting for about 2.46% of total outstanding loans in the economy.
Regarding policy credit, by January 31, 2025, the total outstanding loans of policy credit programs at the VBSP in Area 14 reached VND 22,373 billion with 704,825 customers still in outstanding loans, an increase of 1.03% compared to 2024, accounting for 5.78% of the total outstanding credit balance of Area 14, accounting for 34.2% of outstanding policy credit balance of the Mekong Delta and accounting for 6.02% of outstanding policy credit loans nationwide.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam - emphasized: In the coming time, the State Bank will continue to synchronously implement solutions on monetary and credit policy management, focusing on directing credit institutions in the area to focus on promptly meeting the loan needs of people and enterprises producing, processing, purchasing, temporarily storing and consuming a number of key export industries, ensuring food security of the region and the country (such as rice).
Promote the implementation of credit programs and policies under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, especially specific programs for the Mekong Delta region such as the Loan Program linking the production, processing and consumption of high-quality and low-emission rice products in the Mekong Delta according to Decision 1490/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

"I think the solution proposed by the conference delegates on TCTDs advising businesses on how to manage cash flow is very reasonable. In the coming time, credit institutions need to pay more attention to this issue so that businesses have an objective view and better cash flow management methods" - Ms. Hong spoke at the Conference.
The banking industry also proposed that it is necessary to coordinate with relevant departments, branches, sectors, associations and associations in the region to implement effective and synchronous solutions and policies to help people and businesses in the region stabilize production, business, and develop a sustainable socio-economy, contributing to the implementation of the economic growth goals set by the Government and localities.
