Proposal to buy flowers at cost price on Tet 30th
In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have implemented cooperation agreements on socio-economic development and achieved many outstanding results, including connecting supply and demand and promoting trade and investment.
In 2023 - 2024, District 8 organized promotion and connection of supply and demand in 12 provinces and cities (including 7 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta) to create a place for traders and gardeners to display and trade ornamental flowers and fruits to serve the Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf under the boat" on the occasion of Lunar New Year and the Fruit Week "On the wharf under the boat" associated with the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival on the occasion of Doan Ngo Festival.
Statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee show that in 2023, there will be a total of 788 stalls, consuming 138 tons of goods, fruits and 120,000 flower pots. In 2024, there will be a total of 745 stalls, consuming 95 tons of goods, fruits and 90,000 flower pots of all kinds.
Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that for the upcoming Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf, under the boat", Ho Chi Minh City hopes to have further improvements, so that the traders in the Mekong Delta region participating in this event must truly stand out.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also proposed that for businesses and business households that bring flowers to participate in the Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf under the boat", but by the 30th of Tet there are still flowers and they are not sold out, instead of throwing them away, Ho Chi Minh City will buy back this quantity of flowers at cost price, to decorate offices, streets... during Tet.
According to Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, the fact that people from the Mekong Delta region bring resources to the city to participate in the event "On the wharf, under the boat" is not only an activity of buying and selling ornamental flowers and specific products, but it is also an exchange and contribution of the Mekong Delta region to the material and spiritual life and development of Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
