In Can Tho City, the City People's Committee has agreed in principle to assign the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize the 2025 At Ty Spring Flower Market.

Speaking with Lao Dong on the afternoon of December 6, Mr. Ha Vu Son - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City - said that the Department has successfully mobilized socialization to exempt rent, electricity and water for people participating in buying and selling at the At Ty Spring Flower Market 2025.

The Spring Flower Market is expected to be held from January 18 to 28, 2025 (December 19 to 29, 2024 of the Lunar calendar) at Tay Do Square - Can Tho, Urban Area 586, Cai Rang District. The scale of the organization is over 200 lots, stalls displaying and trading ornamental flowers, ornamental plants, bonsai of gardeners, farmers, and small traders in Can Tho City and the provinces of the Mekong Delta region...

This activity aims to support and create conditions for traders, gardeners, and ornamental flower producers in Can Tho City and some provinces in the Mekong Delta to have the opportunity to connect, trade, and exchange goods.

Previously, the 2024 Lunar New Year was the first year that the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long, Dong Thap and Ben Tre provinces to organize the Spring Flower Market and exempted rent, electricity and water, creating the most favorable conditions for gardeners and businesses in the Mekong Delta to have a place to sell Tet ornamental flowers.

Proposal to buy flowers at cost price on Tet 30th

In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have implemented cooperation agreements on socio-economic development and achieved many outstanding results, including connecting supply and demand and promoting trade and investment.

In 2023 - 2024, District 8 organized promotion and connection of supply and demand in 12 provinces and cities (including 7 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta) to create a place for traders and gardeners to display and trade ornamental flowers and fruits to serve the Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf under the boat" on the occasion of Lunar New Year and the Fruit Week "On the wharf under the boat" associated with the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival on the occasion of Doan Ngo Festival.

Statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee show that in 2023, there will be a total of 788 stalls, consuming 138 tons of goods, fruits and 120,000 flower pots. In 2024, there will be a total of 745 stalls, consuming 95 tons of goods, fruits and 90,000 flower pots of all kinds.

Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that for the upcoming Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf, under the boat", Ho Chi Minh City hopes to have further improvements, so that the traders in the Mekong Delta region participating in this event must truly stand out.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also proposed that for businesses and business households that bring flowers to participate in the Spring Flower Market event "On the wharf under the boat", but by the 30th of Tet there are still flowers and they are not sold out, instead of throwing them away, Ho Chi Minh City will buy back this quantity of flowers at cost price, to decorate offices, streets... during Tet.

According to Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, the fact that people from the Mekong Delta region bring resources to the city to participate in the event "On the wharf, under the boat" is not only an activity of buying and selling ornamental flowers and specific products, but it is also an exchange and contribution of the Mekong Delta region to the material and spiritual life and development of Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
