According to the report of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), during its operation, EVNSPC has always accompanied and supported people and businesses in 21 southern provinces and cities to implement energy-saving solutions. In Tien Giang, Dong Nai, Long An provinces alone, EVNSPC has implemented programs and activities that bring many benefits to customers and the electricity industry.
Typically, in the period of 2014-2016, EVNSPC has implemented the Program to Support farmers growing dragon fruit to replace fiber bulbs with energy-saving compact lamps in the provinces of Binh Thuan, Long An, Tien Giang. Accordingly, 2,323 households have been supported with more than 2 million compact lights. The program has helped households save 54,523 MWh/year, corresponding to an electricity bill savings of more than 82 billion VND/year. For the electricity industry, the program has reduced the peak capacity of the system to 56MW; Saving investment capital and the power grid to create opportunities for investment in other urgent projects. Replacing fiber optic lamps with compact lamps from the program has also helped reduce more than 145,000 tons of CO2.
