Saving energy brings many benefits to businesses: reducing costs, increasing productivity... This is also an inevitable trend in the process of sustainable development.

The potential for energy saving in Vietnam is still huge

In order to improve communication capacity and spread social awareness of energy-saving and efficient use, on July 18 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a Communication Training Conference in the field of energy-saving and efficient use for more than 50 reporters and editors from news agencies and newspapers in the Northern region.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Dang Hai Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade assessed - saving energy and saving electricity are urgent and effective solutions in both the short and long term, helping to reduce pressure on energy supply, protect the environment and enhance national energy security.

According to Mr. Dang Hai Dung, a survey by the VNEEP 3 program, the potential for energy saving in Vietnam is still very large, especially in the industrial sector - which accounts for over 50% of total national energy consumption. If only counting more than 3,000 key energy users nationwide, with an electricity consumption of more than 80 billion kWh/year, just needing to save at least 2% of electricity per year will help save about 1.6 billion kWh, equivalent to more than 3,200 billion VND in annual electricity bills.

On June 18, 2025, the National Assembly officially passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Energy Efficiency and efficiency, effective from January 1, 2026. The amended law adds many new regulations, affirming the important role of energy saving in socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security.

"Through the program, the Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes that the team of reporters and editors will become a strong communication bridge, bringing accurate, scientific and close information about energy-saving and efficient use to the business community and people. Thereby, contributing to changing awareness, forming energy-saving habits, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring national energy security" - Mr. Dang Hai Dung emphasized.
