On October 27, at the National Exhibition Center (Hanoi), a workshop on "Enhancing Vietnamese enterprises through the application of digital technology and connecting to the global market (Go Digital - Go Global)" was held by the Trade Promotion Agency - Ministry of Industry and Trade, to accompany Vietnamese enterprises on the journey of digital transformation and international integration.
In his opening speech, Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) assessed that in the context of globalization and the strong 4.0 Industrial Revolution, digital transformation has become a key factor to help businesses improve competitiveness, expand markets and participate more deeply in the global value chain.
"For Vietnam, digital technology and e-commerce are not only trends but have become new growth drivers for exports, helping Vietnamese enterprises directly reach global consumers, reduce intermediary costs and increase brand value" - Mr. Vu Ba Phu emphasized.
At the workshop, experts said that the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data or cross-border e-commerce platforms is becoming an important "levard" to help Vietnamese enterprises increase productivity, reduce costs and proactively connect with global customers.
Mr. Bui Huy Hoang - Deputy Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Department of Trade Promotion) said that the Center has been closely coordinating with Departments, branches, sectors, localities as well as domestic and foreign enterprises to effectively implement the cross-border e-commerce model.
In recent years, along with the development of e-commerce in general, cross-border e-commerce has also become a strong growth trend in the global market. According to a report by Cognitive Market Research, the scale of the global cross-border e-commerce market in 2024 will reach 791.5 billion USD and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 30.50% in the period of 2024 - 2031" - Mr. Hoang shared.
However, Mr. Hoang also pointed out that many Vietnamese enterprises are still limited in their capacity to operate e-commerce because investment resources, especially specialized human resources, have not received due attention.
In addition, the increasingly fierce online competition environment with high operating, logistics and management costs has caused business efficiency to not reach expectations. In addition, differences in legal regulations and consumer preferences in imported markets are also a major barrier for businesses when expanding exports via cross-border e-commerce.
According to Mr. Hoang, to make a breakthrough in the coming period, Vietnamese enterprises need to invest more in digital infrastructure, train human resources and improve cross-border e-commerce capacity, aiming to participate more deeply in the global value chain.
Enterprises need to choose products suitable for each market, clearly defining cross-border e-commerce models to focus resources on effective investment. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on human resource development and strengthen cooperation with partners in importing countries to save costs and quickly grasp market demand" - Mr. Hoang shared more.
Notably, the workshop is also an opportunity for businesses to connect directly as well as listen to shares about trade development from e-commerce platforms and international trade promotion organizations such as Alibaba, Omega Amazon, ... opening up many opportunities for cooperation, technology transfer and promotion of Vietnamese products to the world market.
