According to the report at the 1st Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030 on the morning of October 1, term 2020 - 2025, the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress sets out 23 main targets in various fields, especially targets on environment, culture, society, and Party building.
Average 5-year economic growth (GRDP) reached 5.51%. GRDP per capita is estimated at about 85.5 million VND. State budget revenue increased by an average of 2.25%/year.
In Dong Thap province, the economic structure shifted towards reducing the proportion of agriculture - forestry - fishery, increasing the proportion of the remaining two areas. By the end of 2025, the proportion of the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector will account for about 34.8%, industry - construction will account for about 25.1%, trade - services will account for about 34.5%, product tax will account for 5.6%.
In the 2020 - 2025 term, Dong Thap province focuses on implementing 6 breakthroughs in: Agricultural economic development; investment in the formation of key products, driving forces; development of enterprises, startups; building infrastructure; developing human resources; administrative reform and building the Party. The implementation results have created great changes in many important areas.
Accordingly, agriculture is focused on investment. Key product lines (rice, fruit, pangasius, ornamental flowers) grew well, were among the leading groups in the country, expanding value chains, contributing to improving business capacity and farmers' income.
The number of newly established enterprises in the term increased 1.27 times compared to the previous term, aiming to become a startup center of the Mekong Delta.

Notably, the transport infrastructure has developed quite well, creating a foundation for inter-regional connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta and developing the fields of agriculture, industry, and tourism.
Dong Thap province has implemented many important projects (Rach Mieu 2 bridge, Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway, An Huu - Cao Lanh, My An - Cao Lanh); upgrading and expanding provincial roads, district roads and rural transport, gradually forming vertical and vertical main routes in the direction of North - South, East - West of the province; effectively exploiting coastal and Tien riverside traffic works to meet the requirements of new rural construction and development.
